One of my best friends from high school and college, one of the coolest women I've ever known in my entire life, a person who could party till 4am and still talk intelligently about any topic, and who took me out on a date for my 20th birthday out of pure kindness and even picked up the full check (the only woman I think who has ever done this for me) died last night at the local hospital back in our hometown, at the age 26 of "unexpected causes".

I'm virtually apoplectic at this point.  I think I may check out of work early.

my neice died last week, just before christmas. she had a heart attack. she was six.

i'm still at a complete loss. i have barely begun to grieve. i honestly feel like i will never be able to wrap my head around it.

I found out today, she died of non-drug related heart failure.  Stopped breathing.  Apparently a rare genetic defect previous diagnosed and thought harmless.  Not so.

right? sorry, i didn't mean to make this a "oh, yeah, well, my story is even worse" kind of a thing. more of a "fuck, everything sucks and i know how you feel" deal.

my neice (by marriage) was kind of born SOL. her mom used a lot of meth when she was little, she was always sickly and weak, pretty smart, though. broke her arm a few weeks back and apparently had a hole in her heart that no one knew about. so she caught some virus that made her heart bleed until there was just too much pressure on it and she suffered congestive heart failure.

anyway, sorry, man. sudden deaths are more difficult to deal with than old age/long time sickness kinds of deaths, i've come to realize.

One of my mom's really close friends died on the 26th. She was pretty down about it the whole break cause the guy was pretty busy dying for a few days before the actual death.

2009 was cursed.

I liked 2009. I mean it wasn't perfect, but so far each year just keeps getting better and better so I'm pretty sure 2010 is going to pwn.
