Thanks. I think I have the one I want.
Pics of sister ship here.1965 Grampian Classic 31 Ketch. Grampian Marine made about 140 of them in Ontario, Canada, but only a few were ketch rigged and only three or four still exist today. I'm going to have the Atomic 4 gasoline engine removed, replace it with 72volts of 220mAh batteries and 30hp of electric motor, charged with either shore power, a generator mounted below decks, solar power, a small wind generator mounted on the stern or any combination thereof. Never buy fuel again and 4 hours of steady motoring on demand. For less money than a small diesel replacement.

She was abandoned, needs only some cleanup and paint. So I got her for less than 10% of her value.
So, you're asking yourself how do I come up with $2000 for the boat, $3000 for the auxiliary upgrade and maybe another $1000 for electronics? It's a simple matter of shifting assets. I have this:

Which I can sell for $3500. I spent $2000 to buy the Grampian and another $1000 to buy this:

A 1970 Swedish made Albin Vega, once cleaned up, rigged and launched is worth $5000 easily. Use the remaining $500 to buy an outboard and cleaning supplies.
Then turn the $5000 back into the Grampian 31. GPS, Stereo with Satellite radio and weather reports, maybe a radar set.
I have never enjoyed a job that wasn't really a job more than I do this...
