Something Asian with a dash of ginger.  This is hard because you live in Japan and are a white guy.  You are going to have to decide to give it a japanese or white dude name.  I have a japanese friend named Yoshi.  How about Chikao Rupert Gentle.  haha

I was more imagining a conversation in west Baltimore where someone wants to name their kid something Japanese and comes up with something completely retarded, to match all the Mercedes and the like that my friend ends up teaching in school.

The sort of name that would get him mocked no matter where he is, whether it's Japan, New Zealand, or someplace else entirely.

Ever since I met Tricky I've thought of naming my future daughter Brooklyn. Luckily my boyfriend was talking baby names and he, too, wants that name for a girl. So... That's a little about us. As for your son, I'd go with something classic like James but it sounds a little silly followed by 'Gentle'. Don't want William because one day people may call him Bill, which sucks. How about Sam? Love Sam. Or Max. Maximillion is a pretty pimp name.

Ruin is actually a perfect name for any child. Financial ruin.

OK, so "financial ruin" was supposed to be a link to this dumb yahoo news article I read just, like, 6 hours ago about how having kids is ruinous to early retirement plans and will cost you a million USD. But they took it down. Maybe it was just too cynical for them. I dunno. Their self-censorship sure took the edge off my little joke, though. I'll never forgive them for that.
