I don't know what my employer listens to.  I'm not receptive to religious or political talk at work, so no one really discusses those things with me.

He's more of a blind nut than a squirrel. Enough of what he says is so patently false that anything of any value he might have to say gets completely lost in the wave of bullshit. And his tendency to make wild predictions and then delete them and never mention them again as soon as they prove to be false only further undermines his credibility.

Agreed. People making money off slander and lies are as bad as the people actually killing millions and making trillions on false flag operations.

I'm not saying anyone's good or bad. I'm saying that when someone feeds you enough bullshit for long enough, you should stop believing them. Nobody will ever believe that any government isn't snooping around, because clearly they are. If the government released a statement tomorrow that said, "we will no longer monitor anyone over the phone or internet", there'd be a cry of "bullshit!" so loud it would echo for miles.

Likewise, when someone like Alex Jones claims that the UN is about to storm in and take everyone's guns, there ought to be a collective cry of "bullshit!" from anyone unlucky enough to be listening to him. But there isn't, because the people who won't cry bullshit on someone like Alex Jones are the people who are willing to listen to him in the first place. And on the circle-jerk goes...

Not offhand. Partly because I really cannot be bothered to go sifting through his bullshit to find something obviously false, but also because he deletes things as they get proven wrong. That "UN coming to take everyone's guns" reference I made wasn't made up (by me). He posted that, with a timeline for it to happen, then deleted it when it didn't happen.

Reputable, as in ABC, CNN, NBC, FOX, MSNBC, New York Times?  I'd prefer a non-corporate-whore source that's not in bed with the administration, thank you.

Not quite that small.  I'm more inclined to believe an independent journalist's blog than any of the corporate whores on TV who only report what they're told to report.

TBH, I can't stand watching small-time youtube videos.  They've all got goofy voices and the ones that know how to keep the camera steady use their computer monitor as the sole light source.

What I do to discern the fact from the bullshit in the news is all but discount whatever is on TV and research what I see on Alex Jones, Drudge and Lew Rockwell.  If I don't see it anywhere else, I discount that too.  I also tend to ignore predictions.  No one can know the future.

I get not outright trusting things just because they come from a major news source, but discounting everything they say? Seems like trying to view the world through one eye while squinting. I prefer to listen to multiple sources with a healthy dose of skepticism. But then I also don't believe that there's some magical entity pulling all the strings with a single agenda.

What I hate about major local news is how the scripted "banter" is designed to lead peoples emotional response to the events.

FAH-Q - I'm with you on the "magical entity pulling all the strings" thing.  It's hard for me to believe that there are 20 guys sitting around a table in a hollowed out volcano somewhere dictating policy in all of the countries *just because*.  It would be more believeable if it was a ship of aliens pulling the strings to make sure we don't advance technologically to the point we're flying around in *their* space stirring shit up.

Not that I really believe that either, but it's more believeable.
