Wow, I can actually see your face in that pic ...
... not quite as furry now, eh?

Not quite!
I have a little psoriasis on my scalp, it's not bad but the last time I tried to treat it my long hair was a problem. So I had it cut and I trimmed the beard by about 5"  again because it was getting split ends and wouldn't grow any longer.

You guys look like you're having fun.

Oh but Commie, I don't have white or even grey hair yet as you can see in this pic from 09

http://www.sitesled.com/members/consist/personal/003.jpg

But I gotta admit I had/have a few grays in the beard.

Things I miss about England right now:

-my dad
-his dog
-the weather
-that jacket

Yeah, lately I've been wishing my parents weren't long dead.

The longevity gap between dogs and humans is a real pain in the ass. Tiger, my dad's dog, was born in my bedroom in my grandparents' house in Catalunya in 1998. Which is a long time ago for me, but makes her 14 this summer and makes it unlikely that I'll see her alive again :(

So what happened with your dad? Or is it only the dog you are currently worried about?
Because that jacket is going to be there later, trust me.

And sorry about Tiger if you don't see her again. I lost a companion of 16 years, I know what it feels like.

Oh my dad's doing well, actually better this year than he has been for a long time. The jacket will be fine (or not) and doesn't matter. I was being flippant. The weather ain't going anywhere either.

I'll miss her, she means a lot to me, but when Tiger finally does go it's going to destroy my dad. She's effectively his third child, and he spends quite a lot of his time making sure she's happy and comfortable and well-snacked and well-fed etc. She also goes everywhere with him, and has always done so. I don't know what he's gonna do.

We had a dog here who lived to almost 17, had to finally put her down a couple of years ago after she broke her hip and recovery wasn't going to happen. Electing to end the life of a family member is one of the harder things any of us has ever done, but we let her retain a little shred of dignity, so I still believe it was the right thing to do. I'm fucking choking up just typing this, jeez.

I use T-Gel shampoo, keeps my psoriasis well and truly under control on my scalp... I use a cream called Diavonex for it elsewhere... I have a fair breakout on my chest, so I think I'll be hitting the solarium for he UV to manage it.

We were having a blast... the owner of that place saw my large belly and pointed as soon as I walked in... he had found a kindred spirit, he had a large belly too.

Just be careful you don't take in too much selenium ...
...both Melissa and I use a shampoo with tea tree oil in it, and we're just fine

That is a pretty sweet jacket

Re: Let's see some recent photos of your ugly mugs Reply #5477 on: June 20, 2012, 06:13:10 PM
Diavonex is a vitamin D derivative, I have prescriptions for clobetasol and Vectical for the patches on my legs. Clobetasol is a super strong steroid  I also have a prescription for "derma-smooth" which is a  fluocinolone acetonide based product with peanut oil. Thats the one I cut my hair for.

The results have been pretty encouraging so far.

I agree with all previous statements of what a nice jacket that is.

Psoriasis is way more annoying than cool...

Re: Let's see some recent photos of your ugly mugs Reply #5482 on: June 22, 2012, 10:04:57 AM
Yep for sure.

Mine only began to manifest 10 years ago and the patches on my legs are a result of getting scrapped up doing construction work in just the past few years.
Injuries seem to trigger it at the site of injury. I know it's an hereditary/genetic issue, it's not something you can "catch" so to speak.
But, I believe it was the stress of being incarcerated back then that set it off for me.
The new prescriptions I have seem to be working fairly well.
Light therapy has been proven to work and remains an option, I may build my own equipment for that but LEDs in the proper spectrum are still a bit rare.

Re: Let's see some recent photos of your ugly mugs Reply #5484 on: June 22, 2012, 08:42:46 PM
That's exema not psoriasis... psoriasis is as Tru says genetic. It's supposed to jump generations, but I drew a short straw and ended up with it.

Stress usually increases breakouts, I usually dont care too much about it as I have it fairly lightly. UV should help.

You know its because of a simple abrasion, your body sees the reconstruction site as an attack and tries to mass produce cells to fix the damage but gets carried away and reproduces cells at a rate that makes your body think it's fighting an infection
