I think I'd drop the No Surrender part too... that just stirs bad feeling, and would likely be misinterpreted as to what I mean by it. 6 pointed star, booo!  i always wonder, if people think ulster should just be the 6 counties that currently make up northern ireland, what happens to the other three counties that are part of ulster, but weren't partitioned into northern ireland???  that's what the 6 pointed star represents right?  making ulster into 6 instead of 9 counties? (although once a man told me he'd like to see northern ireland expanded to include all 9.  good luck!)

Its funny you say about the 9 counties thing... I heard exactly the same accent in Letterkenny as I heard in Belfast. If I drove 50 miles to Sligo, the accent was completely different. I really dont think the partitioning makes a great deal of difference now, and culturally, I'm not sure it ever did.

I think what'll happen eventually is that Northern Ireland will expand to become 9 counties again when the Catholic population of Northern Ireland finally over takes the Protestant population by a politically significant margin.

i'm not sure if i understand you correctly - you think northern ireland will expand to 9 counties when catholics overtake protestants ??  when catholics overtake protestants by enough, i think northern ireland will cease to exist and ireland will be united - all 32 counties (with each province still retaining the proper amount of counties!).

the 6 county thing pisses me off cos it's what that 6 pointed star represents - this idea that ulster, which was historically 9 counties, is now 6 just cos the protestants didn't have enough in 3 of the counties.  i just think it's really shitty (along with partitioning the island...) to alter a region that has existed since ancient times.
