Sandals with socks is either awful english-tourist looking, or ghetto looking, depending on the type of sandals.

Actually they are Coleman Hiking Sandals and I admit, I sometimes wear grey crew socks with them. But only when it's cold. No chance of that this week. It will be over 100 for the next five days at least.

The problem with not wearing socks is you get really weird tan lines on your feet.

I have none of that... EXCEPT! my policeman's shoes are steel-toed. But they cost me just under twenty quid. I figure your various "fashion accessories" cost you significantly more.

Not really, the dog tags were US issue and free for the taking, the patches are left overs. Hardly cost anything.
I just recently decided to use them somehow instead of letting them lay in a drawer. 
My applications would not be considered appropriate as far as regulation dress is concerned but I feel I should wear them as a reminder.
