Don't bother.  I knew better, but went anyway.

Totally disagree.  I enjoyed it heartily.

I'm in the middle.  I enjoyed it thoroughly, but feel that enjoying it and its characters and myriad of plot circumstances means you accept the moral premise that humanity is basically fucked beyond hope.  Without spoiling anything, I think the agreement of moral acceptance of the concluding outcome by the major characters basically affirms that.

I'd like to watch it several more times to get more out of it.

I've never read the book, I don't know what happens but I heard that the book concludes much differently.

I'll rent it.  All that is mentioned when I read about it is blue penis.

I agree, I'd like to see it more, too.  I think I'd get more message from watching it one or two more times.
I think the important thing about this movie is that it DID have a message; it wasn't just a random comic book movie.  That's why I support it.

I'd rather get the book

Re: Watchmen Reply #7 on: March 09, 2009, 12:30:54 AM
The book was excellent.

The transition to the movie lost a good bit of the depth of the characters as well as diluting some of the themes of the comic.  And to top it off, most of the performances were pretty flat.  I also hated the change to the end of the story.

I think Zack Snyder is good at bringing a certain stylistic quality and feel to a movie.  But based on 300, Dawn of the Dead, and now Watchmen, he doesn't really bring anything else to the table.

What are you implying? That I'm gonna whack it to Billy Crudup's CGI enhanced blue dick?

............OK you just crossed the line, buddy.

Oh and I've watched four chapter of this motion comic........WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ALL HIGH?!?!  This is the most boring fucking drawn out pointless shit on earth.  The only cool thing so far was Dr. Manhattans story.  This BETTER get better or I'm gonna bitchslap all fucking nerds in love with this cuz so far it's a pretty big steaming pile.  I mean, I'm not a comic book fan, but I know what the fuck is good and what isn't.  I read one of the Sin City graphic novels and it was amazing, I just wanted to keep reading and reading it was so exciting.  This is......NOT FUCKING FUN.

300 was awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing Watchmen, but my expectations aren't terribly high. I'm a sucker for superhero movies, and am rarely disappointed. Superhero movies are like sex or pizza - even they're bad they're still pretty good.

I saw it tonight, and thought it was great. I never did get around to reading the book though, so I suppose I wasn't biased against the movie. The book is almost always better.

The movie was great if for the simple reason that it's epic for inappropriate laughter.

I quit the comic halfway through.  What a boring piece of shit.

I haven't seen Watchmen, but that sounds sorta reminiscent of the "Now youse can't leave." scene from A Bronx Tale.

Yeah I loved Watchmen.  It really surprised me.  I kinda want to get it on DVD.  But no, I never read the comic though.  I think I downloaded it and it's on my HD somewhere but I never got around to reading it.

Re: Watchmen Reply #27 on: August 14, 2010, 03:09:40 AM
Hated the ending.

Hated that Owl and Spectre so easily killed people, which ruins the impact of Rorschach's transition to killing.

Hated how they changed that story as well.

Hated how they made Owl beat up on Ozy at the end. That was just bullshit catharsis for the dunderheads in the theater. The whole point was that the bad guy got away with it, and there was nothing they could do.

On the whole I think it was about as good as we can get, but I would have LOVED to see Gilliam's version.
