Lost passport?  No way.  That happened to me in NYC.  The only reason it sucked was because it was my only ID.  I had to go to the police station to get a form saying that I had been mugged, which led to me losing my passport.  It was the only way I could board a plane.

Lost passports blow. Amy lost hers in LA somehow, and it was an ordeal and a half getting her sorted back out and able to travel.
