So what would you do if your husband wanted a divorce?  Murder/suicide?  There's not really a way you can stop them from just ditching the marriage if that's what they want to do.

They can ditch the marriage, sure, but I wont sign to divorce.

that's very strong coming from someone who's future life partner will be vetted, or more likely chosen by her family
My parents are against divorce too.
They're more likely to disown me for getting divorce tbh.

I don't think you have to sign it.  The court would grant it even over your protests.  I know they do in the US & what I read online indicates that they will in the UK too.

When I get married I will make sure my fiancee knows full well I am not going to get a divorce, ever.
I still think this is a perfectly valid way to say what Sakhi meant.
If her husband ditches her and she refuses to sign the divorce papers and the court grants the husband a divorce over her refusal, I think it would be fair to say that the husband went to get a divorce. Or you could say that a divorce was imposed on her perhaps, or that the court acted to divorce her from her husband.

Still, using strict grammar construction I think she could say that she never "went to get a divorce" per se. She had never "gone to get a divorce."

Anyway, just saying...

Why's it so tense in here?

Is it tense? I wasn't trying to make things tense. I'm just into the devil's advocacy.

Like yours.  Only different.

I stand by my ambiguous statement. Tense is a fact of life. It was incidental to my argument.
...or would that get me laughed off the stage? Hmm... Yeah, nevermind. In all honesty I was really just selling you clever Johhny Wordsmiths short. Heh, good show.

In my dream I was speaking french.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #373 on: November 20, 2009, 09:06:31 AM
I dreamed of an alien robot take-over.  They invaded by balloon, which was pretty neat.

I had dreamed this one before, though, so I didn't make all of the same mistakes when hunting them down.  I already knew where the puzzles were, and generally how to solve them.

The only downside was that the "boss" was still masked when I got to him (since I got there so quickly) and I had to use an alien garbage disposal to kill him.  This was a much less elegant solution compared to the pen laser I used in the original version of the dream.
Like yours.  Only different.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #374 on: November 20, 2009, 01:58:49 PM
last night i dreamt i was doing biology, i didnt even take biology.
we were really behind with the work - we were making a presentation, like a poster or sumshit.
but then one of my best friends turned up, she was with her 2 sisters.
i had to get rid of her because i didnt want the teacher (who was ginger and tall) to find out she was here.
this meant i had to leave which sucked because, like i said, we were behind.

I flew a spitfire in my dream last night.

in another dream i was in a theme park, i could describe it... if I understood it.

I had a dream that I took this little black kid to a guitar hero game show taping, for black kids.  Then a little black girl peed on stage and everybody laughed. I laughed too, and then I woke up.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #377 on: November 26, 2009, 03:59:34 PM
It started off fair enough, we used the horses. We were on the top of the hierarchy and then suddenly it changed.
From the horse stable area came an orange, striped arm. And they were hungry.
I grabbed a horse and we went away, thought its okay, just a few tigers but then suddenly the whole place was swarmed with them.
They killed and ate everyone, there was mass panic. We were lucky - we made it into a rich persons house and luckily they let us stay.
We locked the doors, made sure no supertigers (because they werent just tigers) would be able to get in.
We sat around the living room, fearful.
My father had to go somewhere, I dont know where or why, not now and I dont think i did in the dream either.
I talked to my mother, she told me to get my ID card, so when relief came I would be helped. Without it I wouldnt of been.
She kept telling me again and again, eventually it worked and I left the safety of the house.
Outside it was dark, and actually thinking about it this whole dream was in darkness.
I walked to the house quickly, when I got there all the cars in the street were being towed away.
I entered the house, the door was open anyway, quickly went up the stairs and grabbed my ID card.
Then I realised that was actually my library card and I grabbed my actual ID card.
In my room I felt safer than in the street or downstairs and so I thought I'd grab some clothes too.
Once I had done this I went downstairs, the door to the living room was open and the moonlight was coming in from outside.
There was a small puddle of blood on the tiles.

After this I half woke up, half kept dreaming, this meant I had more control over my dream and i went back and rewrote bits/thought of different things.
e.g. i worried about some e-people, wondering if they were okay or if i was ever going to see them. how to get to them.
then i realised/decided this was only in london (which totally makes sense) and not the rest of the world.
And i tried both running and walking back to the house.
I thought about what would happen if I died.

That was the worst dream I can ever remember having. Usually even if I have a dream in which something bad happens it is still a good dream, this one was not. Even the start when i was just hanging out with my friends was not pleasent. When I woke up I was so frightened that in X years to come this will happen to my children or my childrens children etc. Just not with super tigers, more lack of any energy and electricity and breakdown of society. etc.

Not only that but I'm pretty sure that puddle of blood was my fathers. I think there was a supertiger in the living room.
I'm pretty sure he never came back in the dream.

learn to read, that's tigger not a tiger.

besides didnt you watch the movie? theres only one tigger.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #380 on: November 26, 2009, 10:38:03 PM
For some reason I kept reading "nigger" in your post.

Anyway... last night I had a dream that I was in an insane asylum or some place where I was being imprisoned, but allowed a small amount of freedom. I eventually broke out of the place but couldn't jump down this huge flight of stairs.  It was weird.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #381 on: November 27, 2009, 07:36:44 AM
i dreamt i was watching a movie but it was really really boring.
then in it there was this plane and it crashed straight down into a skyscraper, like vertically down.
And it kept going down and down and there was a guy who could help, who could've stopped the plane...
...but he couldnt be bothered. He was just sitting around whilst it happened.

True. But the problem is that many of the  characters in this internet world could never function in RL.
Infact for some of them, InternetWorld IS the Real World.

Now I am sure that I'm actually in 1973, in a coma.
Or am I just thinking of Zoomie's fashion sense...
