I can get up and be active immediately, no matter how little I've slept. I feel pretty shitty by about lunchtime though.

I exist so I can be on that show Grumpy Old Men.

I have the grumpy bit down, mostly because I dont sleep more than a couple hours a night.

I got the old bit down.

Now I just need to be some pseudo celeb.

Oh man, that brings up some fucked up memories. Up all night, then more in the morning just to get going, then more in the afternoon to stay awake... and hey presto it's night again let's par-tay!

I barely ever dream, and I have bad problems with insomnia.  I have a hard time getting to sleep, and when I sleep I don't sleep well, and I have nightmares.  On my bad insomnia fits that come along once every two or three months I'll be up for days on end.

being tired from physical exercise will help with that

I hate sleeping myself, it just seems like such a waste of time.

Except for the one or two times I had a lucid dream, and I turned my arm into a big ass sword.

No, it doesn't.  Not for actual insomnia.  Not my kind, at least.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #39 on: March 26, 2009, 09:39:57 AM
I had a dream that I was walking through a deserted 1950s city.  There were all kinds of old signs around, and I told my dad (who was suddenly there) that they'd be worth a lot of money.  My mom (who was also suddenly there) decided to go into a building to look for a bathroom.

I was like "wtf, abandoned town, mom!" but she was already gone.  In the interim, I pull up a wooden post from the ground; it has nails in it.

a minute later, i hear a metal-on-metal screech, and my mom comes running out of the building.  A second later, I see a short man in a full tuxedo (with tails and tophat) and a fine cloth sack/mask over his face run out the door behind her.  the cloth mask has evil eyes, an evil grin, and an evil curly-q mustache drawn on it.

he stops in the middle of the street, gets into a goku-ka-meha-meha stance, and the metal shriek happens again.  just before i turn to run (my parents have already booked it), I throw the wooden post at him, and it EXPLODES when it hits the ground.

in the dust, i turn and...  wake up.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't do this, but screw it.  Because of my nightmares I've been keeping a dream journal for a year or so now.  If you like reading weird dreams and don't mind the disjointed way I write when trying to remember them, here it is:

http://somnimiles.livejournal.com/

I'd recommend going back a page and starting from the beginning.  I really thought I'd written more than what's in there.

Was I making out with your grandpa?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just not my thing.

no, but that would've made the dream extra extra weird.

I don't buy it. Maybe some physical exercise wouldn't do the trick, but if you tire yourself out sufficiently your body will shut down eventually.

Then you've never had chronic insomnia.  Staying up an extra couple of hours because you had a coca-cola at 9 o'clock is not insomnia.  During the bad fits I'm up for days.  Extra exercise just makes me feel sore while I stare at the ceiling all night.

I had a really weird one last night. The only time I seem to remember them is if I am woken suddenly by a loud noise, etc.

This one involved my scientologist friend's dead 500 pound father, and Balor. It's even too weird to write it all out. But basically I was at my buddy's dad's funeral in some HUGE cathederal or something and Balor was there with his cane.

so anyway i've had like three dreams about mosh but not any about you other assholes.

but the other night, amidst dreams not involving sir ian, i dreamt of a dolphin who ate paper and understood sign language. obviously he couldn't sign back to me because of the lack of arms/hands so he just communicated by sending thoughts directly into my brain.

at the time it seemed a perfectly normal thing to be happening, though i did wonder why i was able to hold my breath for so long.

Re: Share a Weird Dream Reply #54 on: April 23, 2009, 12:51:16 PM
I dream every night, I go through periods where I remember all of it every night and then periods where I don't remember them at all. My most fucked up dreams are probably the ones which involve sex but they happen rarely.

K, one of my weirdest dreams was last year. I dreamt that our whole year had been awarded a trip to a mansion as a reward for hard work. So we went, basically what we got to do was just slide around on the banisters etc. and piss about. That was it. Well to cut a long story short, me and my friend went to the very top. She wanted to slide down the banister there but I was too chicken, per usual, so she went down. Unfortunately what she, nor I, had missed was that the banister had an average slope for a little bit and then dropped very sharply, very steeply. Basically she plummeted down and went splat.

So by this point I was so very scared, I looked down and saw her and three other people. There were teachers all around her and paramedics n stuff. I completely freaked. I ran away and I saw my friend, with this kid that used to follow her around. They were in the dining room just outside the tallest point. I asked her where another of my friends was and she said she didn't know, I started crying and I was wishing that said friend was there but she never did turn up.

I've been having really realistic, day-to-day life-type dreams recently. It's really kinda disconcerting, cuz I have whole conversations with people who then have no idea we've had this conversation when I make reference to something that was said in my dream, which seems just like a regular memory to me. And this has been going on every single night (and day - I've been napping on my days off recently, which is very unlike me) for a couple weeks now.

I've never actually had a dream about any of you.  I've had plenty of dreams about drugs though.  And lakes.  And flying.  And flying through drug-lakes.

I started having those when I was taking Mirapex for RLS. I almost crashed my car one day because I started daydreaming, and the dream seemed so real and common place that it replaced reality for a bit. Then I bounced off the lane divider and woke up just in time to stop from crashing into the stopped car ahead of me.
