Obviously not much more than a toy by today's standards but it's fun.

REMINGTON 1858 "Buffalo"

900 - 1000 fps 25gr .454 ball.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks about C&B BP weapons.

Another 1858

Black Powder 1858 Remington Howto CVA replica (debunked)

Sweet, does it use 209 primers?

I like this one.

But I would really like a stainless steel Ruger
Something like this.Only fitted for a sight.

It uses whatever came with it. I haven't used all of it yet so I'd have to look it up and it's locked in my RV in Washington County.

No. I bought a .50 cal black powder gun in a liquidation sale, and locked it up in my RV/hunker down bunker in the Appalachians of Western, MD. It came with 50 primers, 50 sabots and 50 powder charges. When I need to replace any of them or stock up, I'll learn what they are.

Sometimes you have to take what people say at face value.

You've never fired it then?

Gee, I like to play with my toys.

Btw 209's are modern shotgun primers. Many new black powder inlines use them in place of caps now.
Much more dependable and weather proof.

I have a two shot .36 cal I built from a kit. I've fired it tons of times and I use a hot load in it because it's proved it can take it.
I seal the primers and barrel with clear tape to keep the powder from absorbing moisture. Ive thought about moding it to take modern 9mm rounds. Still might.
It lives under my pillow. I have a modern Remington 18" barrel .22 LR semi, it holds 20 rounds. It's in my bed too.

Yep I sleep with death at hand.

It's been fired 4 times. It was purchased for emergencies. We put a huge slab of styrofoam in an innertube and anchored it in the Little Kanawha, then went 1/4 mile up the mountain and took up a defensive sniper position on an outcropping looking down onto a bend in the river. I actually found I shoot better with my Rossi fitted with a cheap railed Tasco scope and a 2 3/4" shell firing a rifled deer slug than I do with the muzzle loader firing .50 cal sabots. Mostly because the Rossi was made for 10 year old girls and weighs nothing compared to the Yukon and its composite stock. But if I had to take head shots on the front porch from the mountaintop, I'd do pretty good.
