Oh flibberjibbits.

I miss having a Cattie so much. Back in my Halcyon Days, meaning the last half of the 1990s, I had a pair of Stripers, one orange and one grey, named Waa and Aerr-aerr.  I have always named cats only after sounds the cats make themselves.  When they make that phunky little goofy sound that's not a meow or a purr, but exactly both at once, that's cat language spoken mostly only to other cats.  If you have a cat speak like that to you, it's got total affinity and trust for you.

My cats liked it when I named them things they vocalised themselves.  It would be weird to have a name for yourself that you couldn't pronounce, I think.  I like cats to be able to pronounce their own names.  Names are precisely the set of syllables and phonetic utterances that invoke an individual's ATTENTION.  That's damn important...

Besides, Waa was such a spaz that it was the only thing anyone'd ever think to call her.  She had the world's loudest voice, and it was used CONSTANTLY, and she'd be saying "Waaaaaa! Waa! Waa aaa aaa Waaaaaaa!" And then tumble into a buzz of purries.  I had Waa for eleven years before the damn cancer got her.  I'm ready for another cat now, but I can't get one until the apartment I'm almost at the top of the waiting list for becomes available.  Where I am right now, pets are verboten.

I never thought of naming an animal something THEY could pronounce.  I had my cat for about 17 years before we put him down.  He was the biggest attention whore on the earth, I loved him.

And another cute explosion:

This should go in the Cute Explosion thread.

Morbidly obese cats are simultaneously cute and sad.  I prefer the ones with witty captions.

*Merged, for her pleasure.

My cat Trix is in crisis, She has some sort of mass in her abdomen according to the vet and hasn't eaten or drank anything since Saturday morning. I don't think she can last much longer. I had her hydrated and started her on antibiotics thinking it might be a tooth infection. That seems to have been only a stop gap solution.  Strange how she acts so normal for part of the time but refuses to eat or drink. A $500 operation MIGHT help her but there are no guarantees that even that will bring her around.

Ah well, nobody's problem.

Awwww :( .....sorry Tru, that sucks.  I was really sad when my cat got old and had to be put down, but he lived a long happy life.

Thanks. Wish her luck if you want, she goes under the knife today and depending on what they find this may be the end for her.
But she is feeling pretty good today, slept with me all night and almost acts normal. Still not eating but she did drink a small bit of cat milk and that's more than she has managed through the whole past week.  So I'm hopeful it will be something they can fix easily.

That balloon cat is funny, love the delayed reaction.

Good luck to your kitteh!! I wishes hers the bestest!

Re: Cute Explosion Reply #115 on: June 06, 2009, 03:10:40 AM
Thanks, Looks like she may be ok.

She had a serious internal infection but curable. It's the huge incision down her belly that I have to make sure she doesn't mess with now. Keeping that dam cone on her head is going to be a real challenge. She has already gotten it off twice, err I haven't checked on her in a little while so maybe three times.

My mom's cat is dying of "kitty aids".  She doesn't even like to be pet anymore, she just hisses at you for trying.  My mom is really sad about it, so I cleaned her house today.

While we are on the subject of playing people off....Play Colbert Off, Green Day.
