still... I'd have thought that it really wouldnt have entered th US vocab...

I mean, like "wank". From what I can tell, that's only fairly recently entered regular usage in the US.

I suggest that word is a corrupted spelling of bollocks. Bolix as listed in that dictionary has the definition equal to a known usage of bollocks.
