most of my friends moved to NZ to work in the graphics industry. they were really awesome people. i miss them. they were so fun. and rich. but crazy fun.

The graphics industry here is top class, and since it's mostly vector mathematics people who work in it at the top level are generally switched on. I did graphics in comp sci and while it was fun the thought of bending my brain as a career appealed less than chasing girls in maid costumes around night-time Tokyo. I don't regret that decision one whit

At the end of the year I'm going to drive my wife around the West Coast of the South Island of NZ. It's largely unpopulated and the roads aren't up to much but it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.




It might remind a few of you CA people of the coastline just south of the bay area.

The only thing is that the NZ dollar can be a weaker currency, so if you've got debt to pay off it's worth busting ass in the states for a year to reduce that to a level where renting out your house would cover the payments on your mortgage and school loans.
