I would say that you wouldn't believe the crackdown that would happen in this country. it would make T-Square look like a tickle fight.
However, some of you are old enough to remember Kent State. Hell, Tru was probably there collecting pop cans.
Pop came in bottles back then.

so you're almost, almost, nearly done?
Loaded-Gun.com - I don't know what the hell they are talking about or why they are even there. They don't make serious points and they don't joke, but they still manage to make a lot of posts somehow.

Nick - yes. It took all summer, but yes, we are nearly, nearly done. Today we are doing the wall color and after work I'll take the trim outside and paint it. We should be attaching that tonight, depending on how many coats of wall paint need to go on (personally I think its going to take two). Which means we'll be doing trim on Saturday

Old Contractor Joke Warning (and I'm an old contractor).

A man dies and finds himself at the entrance to hell. He didn't live a very good life. The Devil himself steps out and motions him over.

The Devil smiles and says, "You have the choice of two; Door number one or door number two"

"What's behind door number one?" the man asks.

"Fire and brimstone and great suffering for an eternity," the Devil answers.

"What's behind door number two?" the man asks.

"You live in your house while it gets remodeled."

We are in the middle of just that.

The downstairs bathroom is finished, but since our house is from the 1870's, when you open up the walls, you never know what kind of mess you'll find. So a partition wall was built out of scraps running horizontally and had to be torn out, which then made the tub surround needing to be replaced...it was a domino effect.

Now the back room (which was just a poorly done enclosed porch) has been gutted and insulated, and the kitchen is next.

My house is a pigsty from hell.

I've got you beat, we moved here in '96.
We didn't do a lot for a long time because we weren't planning to stay here.

But we're in the home stretch...last thing will be an addition, new siding and a metal roof.

Re: It begins! Reply #248 on: August 21, 2009, 02:48:01 PM
At least its old and cool - but I do understand living in a mess. Ive fucking HAD IT with this kitchen, and plan on having it done, and mostly cleaned by sunday night.

Here's the wall color going on...

Another coat on the walls, then we are gonna go around with a fine brush and clean up the ceiling.

Here's some other stuff...

Bought this ugly fan....

And turned it into this with 1 can of spray paint, some painter's tape and new globes ($3.00 ish each, Lowes)

Side by Side Then and Now to come...

Thanks! Ive got the air going to cut out the humidity and that new little fan on full blast to dry this bitch and get that 2nd roll on. I dont think Ill need to cut in twice, but we'll see (god I hope not)

This kitchen color is so 1950s. Its cute, but Im weary on it. I love the contrast, though! I think I just need everything in place, cleaned up, and my orange accents to calm it down.

... or I could just embrace it and buy myself this beauty:

Please, im not that tacky. Id get it in stainless steel!

If you have an Ollie's Discount Clearance Mart up there (we have them all over here) they come in by the pallet load, remanufactured for like $89.00. I want one too but I can't even keep a blender working for more than 4 weeks. Those are the breaks of alcoholism...

Holy crap, you paint your house like such a girl. If your latest plaything moves in he's going to go into fucking oestrus.

PS- I like what you did with the ceiling fan, though.

Balor - he's already here, and he's OK with the color... but it was a design before he got here. Oh well! He still seems to be manly despite the blue color.

Zooms - we have to! It looks TERRIBLE in certain spots
