Man, they must be one of the most underrated bands ever. Everyone likes their stuff, even if they don't realize it.
I think my favourite song is This Must Be The Place.
Gente?
-
Agreed.
Edit : Had an afterthought... theres an Aussie band called - architecture in helsinki - I swear they could of been fathered by talkheads... they are not a direct rip, and go places the heads didn't, but if ANYBODY was going to do the cover of - Burning down the house ( my fav track ) - on a tribute release, its them.
-
Actually The Arcade Fire does a fucking awesome cover of the aforementioned This Must Be The Place.
-
mmhmm. love me some talking heads.
but my fave is probably the song in your sig.
-
I have no clue what they sound like.
-
they sound like a psycho killer, cutting out your eyeballs.
-
Oh man, I just farted real hard on that post above mine.
-
hahaha
-
I do a little dance of glee every time a Talking Heads song comes on the radio.
-
Point me to a good one.
-
"How did I get here?"
You folks have no idea how often I ask myself that very question...

Since when did MTV have music?
"Sorry, we're unable to offer this video to users in your region"
-
Back in the days when your mom was getting fisted by your uncle.
-
That's lame about MTV not showing it.
Here's another song from you tube (embedding disabled):
Talking Heads "Burning Down the House" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNnAvTTaJjM#noexternalembed-lq-lq2-hq)
-
that's one of my favorite Talking Heads songs!
-
My brain doesn't know what to do with that song.
-
as long as it doesn't do a shitty duet with the Cardigans then you're cool
-
Man, the Talking Heads are everything that was good about the 80s.

This is the theme song for my life.

That Psycho Killer vid is like 1978. You can tell, he still has 70s hair LOL. He's still considered a local here. Everyone claims to know him.
-

Are you kidding me? There was so much good about the 80's, it was just underground.
-
Dude, you didnt live through it, you just drooled and shit yourself a lot.
The 80's sucked balls.
-
I lived six years through it. A few of them I remember!
-
Coolangatta Gold - The movie
Skateboards and BMX going big
Hypercolour T-shirts - i think that was 89, not sure.
ummm. hmm. how old is your misses ? lol, cause i got nothing else....
-
Older than me...slightly...
Great things about the 80's:
Joh for PM - Delayed Howard becoming PM for a decade...
Hawthorn FC
Hardcore & Thrash
Talking Heads
ummm shit, thats about it. Even Dr Who sucked in the 80's.
-
The Big Gig !! how did i forget that one. and D-gen I guess, so i should add thel ate show. fuck, both TV..lame.
The VN ? ha. no... 80s Bathurst was really good.
-
The VL was the pinnacle. 3 litre turbocharged Nissan engine, and the Calais was gorgeous. The VN was awful.
Dick Johnson and his Sierra? The best thing about the Touring Cars was the JPS BMW's. They looked evil.
Do you remember Beatbox? That was way, way better than Rage.
-
trivia : My old man raced against Dickie back in the 60s.
I'm useless with 80s blue and reds. The VN was the first one that came to me.
Yeah, I remember alot from the 80s bathurst races, more than i do from the recent ones.
Beatbox was abit before me, but I am aware of it.
-
My favorite thing about the 80's? Fucking MY PET MONSTER. Hells yes.
-
Great things about the 80's:
Michael Jackson LA Gear. I had the "Smooth Criminal" ones.
My favorite thing about the 80's? Fucking MY PET MONSTER. Hells yes.
I had the movie, even.
-
Great things about the 80's:
And you forgot the early 80's hardcore scene. That was pretty fucking cool.
-
re: talking heads
not much is better than putting on the 'stop making sense' dvd in the background of a party, getting drunk and stoned and having a kickass heads dance party.
key songs aside from those already mentioned:
girlfriend is better
making flippy floppy
-
Re: Stop Making Sense
I want that shit. But I want it on Blu-ray and it doesn't seem to exist yet.

Hunters and Collectors.
-
I cant stand them. I really want to punch Mark Seymour in the face.
I'd rather listen to the Reels or the Go Betweens.

Agreed. And actually I was introduced to Talking Heads via the song Road to Nowhere at the end of the movie Little Monsters (Savage bros! w000t!*). I watched till the end of the credits, then asked my dad "ever heard of a band called Talking Heads?". He'd heard of them but wasn't too familiar with their stuff, so we went down to HMV or wherever and bought a best-of album. This (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Talking-Heads/dp/B0002IQMKM) one, I think. We both really liked it, and played it all the time in the car. My dad was pretty cool with stuff like that, very open to trying out new music and getting into things I expressed interest in.
*Oh and fuckin' Howie Mandel played Maurice, the good monster. And Frank Whaley played Boy, the evil fuck. Check out the big brain on Boy!

My daughter just watched this movie for the first time a few days ago and she loved it. And then we had a dance party to Road to Nowhere when the movie ended. Good times.

Well, I guess if she ends up calling you from California tomorrow morning, you'll know why.
