I gained a real interest in death growls when I realized that the technique is a cousin of overtone singing.
Yes I am a nerd.

Re: Imagine THIS: Reply #6 on: December 12, 2009, 10:34:16 AM
It's all non-standard vocal-chord use.
Overtone singers create music using harmonic overtones rather than the way we normally use our vocal chords.
Death growlers use their false vocal folds.

The human voice is amazing.

Re: Imagine THIS: Reply #7 on: December 12, 2009, 10:40:59 AM
No kidding.

i only have 1/2 of a voice ~ one vocal bit the dust,  ah, well

So i can't actually sing for more than about 30 mins

but i do use a gutteral hum for any melodies

i love music.  i always hear it, and if i could just ..

well, all anyway.

WoW.

Y'all aren't exactly used to us Edit-ie folks, eh?

i have to LOOK at it.

It has to be just so.

It can't just be ANY way.

It's too stoopid, but it seems to be important to me.

What can i say?

To me, it's a canvas, and i get to paint on it with words,

but not just words ~ COLORS, different fonts, different SIZES

It's a game, and you put the pieces together so that it looks good,

to you.

i hate that about giving up on monkeying around with all that stuff.

It was fun.

p.s.  i forgive you, 'cuz Dear says i'm the ONLY "edit-ie" person he's ever met.

And the poor thang had to MARRY me to find this out!!!

There's two sides to editing. I try to make it perfect the first go-round, but if I fucked something up then I have to undertake a weighing analysis. Post-facto editing makes you look like a cheat and a flip-flopper, but the alternative is to stand by your fucked up version. Does the benefit of striking the fucked up portion outweigh the rhetoric-weakening effects of the post-facto edit? Sometimes I just leave up mistakes like typos rather than weaken my argument.

This is what I think sometimes, if I post something and then go back to edit it, sometimes it looks like i changed what i was saying rather than the typos. It bothered me a lot when I first got here cuz on HF if you dont write in why you edited you cant tell someone edited their post.

Cripes!

i always just went back and edited and edited,

not giving (nor actually KNOWING to give) a shit about what anyone thought i was doing.

For the most part, i figure, folks don't WANT to figure out what i'm thinking, at any given moment,

and so .

Aaaaanyway....

Not if you delete and re-post.
Ah, now I get you. My problem is I don't want to look like I'm doing edits after someone replies to me, but sometimes I only see a typo after the response has been made or worst of all I see something stupid I said that the person didn't respond to and that I wish I could change now, but I'm locked into it now so rather than concede I obviously have to defend my stupid point to the death. Hehe. It does make the argument more fun in a way I suppose.
