Crossposting extraneous data from the video game thread post:

Hah.  I've been too far gone for that for almost a decade now.  Out of shape, back problems, and when I had that lung infection episode back in 2009, I think it was?  After that I was too out of breath to walk around for too long much less do any kind of labor.  Been much better the last couple of days though, I can sit up for most of the day now all of a sudden.  It's weird, I got this giant craving for dill pickles a few days ago from out of nowhere and started buying them, despite worries about the salt and my blood pressure, but I've felt amazing since I started eating them.  This happened a month and a half ago too, though I got scared and stopped eating them when I thought they were making my blood pressure get too high and I felt like shit, but turned out I'd just caught some bug.  Guess there's something in the pickles I need, either the salt or some preservative maybe.

What really makes me feel like shit lately is bread, for some reason.  The nieces came by to visit today and because I'm their favorite hero Uncle Johnny I bought them one of those dinner box pizzas from Pizza hut that they love so much, and after eating two slices of it I felt like absolute shit.  Got me some pita flatbread to make ham and sausage sandwiches with for breakfast, and feel a little bad after that.  Tortillas seem to be fine so far lately, when I was eating them with the hamburger patties and cheap steaks the roomate was making on the foreman grill.

I made Great Northern white beans with ham a couple days ago. Lots of ham.

They were good, I ate the last of them today. Today I added hominy, peppers and tomatoes and made the left overs into a soup.

I had a lung infection two winters ago it was awful. now I get panicked around sick people. I was walking every day, losing a tiny bit of weight. then I got a tick on me. I feel dirty now. I know I need to keep going, but ew.

anyway. making spaghetti and mushrooms and spinach and a salad for dinner. gonna go make a grilled cheese bagel (home made by Zoom last night) and tomatoes with coffee.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #1233 on: April 20, 2015, 05:12:01 PM
Oh I hope you are feeling better.
I always use those sanitary wipes on the shopping cart if available because children are fucking disease laden monsters. OMG it's disgusting people actually put their sick children in the seat and they touch everything you do.

I have a half pound of hamburger thawing out. If it behaves I'll try to do a beef asparagus/pepper stir fry.

Sort of like a dumbass version of hamburger helper. Humm, I should probably make rice with that.

I bought hot dogs last night ... hotdogs! 79 cents a pack, well at least they are Armour Brand.

"Hotdogs, Armour hotdogs.

What kinds of kids eat Armour hot dogs?

Fat kids, skinny kids, kids who climb on rocks.

Tough kids, sissy kids

Even kids with chicken pox love hotdogs

Armour hotdogs, the dogs kids love to bite!"

Hey does anyone actually eat Chorizo?

My sister made this for lunch one time a long time ago and that was my first and only experience with it.
I was thinking of her a few days ago and thought I would try it again, in her memory. So I bought a little tube of it to remind me of that day.

I will never buy it again. Do people actually consider this a food product?

You did cook it, yeah? I'm assuming you probably got the Mexican kind, which requires cooking, like sausage meat. The Spanish kind is cured and is usually eaten like salami. It's really popular here in the UK at the moment, but everyone mispronounces it as "cho-ritz-oh". It's not a fucking Italian or German product, damnit. It's "cho-ree-so" or "cho-ree-tho".
ever tried. ever failed. no matter. try again. fail again. fail better.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #1255 on: May 18, 2015, 08:52:42 AM
I use chorizo when its not prepackaged and I play 20 questions with the butcher. mexican chorizo, anyway. there is a meat maket about an hour away, and it is the best. Not fatty, really fine, and made from spare rib meat. and spicy. I need to make my own someday soon. I stopped eating it cause I mistakenly read the ingredient list of cacique brand, and thats all she wrote until recently, mostly cause zoom likes it.

you have to fry it til just this side of crispy. that is the traditional fat used in re-fried beans. in eggs, on potatoes  and red chile in folded tortilla and deep fried, and in white cheese is called queso flameado with tortilla chips and guacamole and salsa.

Ive been asking for hummus, and it shall happen soon, I hope. i was hoping it happened while I had an eggplant to make baba ganoush, but it didnt happen. by my hand. I keep forgetting the chickpeas. and the lemons. im used to limes.

Tonight, tamales.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #1256 on: May 18, 2015, 07:44:56 PM
Well I've had enough of chore-eee-zo after reading the ingredients.

I made a nice potato, kielbasa, okra and jalapeno pepper soup last week. And it lasted me all week! Not a gumbo but a nice filling soup. Yesterday I made egg noodles with chicken. Still have a bowl of that left.

Tonight looks like baked fish and french fries.
