I didn't really have much faith in this HBO series being any good, especially with Jeff Daniels starring in it (Just never really liked the guy in anything), but it's actually pretty good from what I've seen so far.  I missed the second episode because my cable was out and half of Last Sunday's while I was tracking down the PS2 my niece has been begging me to buy for her as a birthday gift, but This scene from the beginning of the pilot kinda shows the mood and theme of the show, and it got me reeled in:

Will McAvoy Meltdown / Rant on The Newsroom

First episode was about them covering that BP drilling platform that blew up in 2010, and damn it was pretty good.

Well at least that part was pretty good. Was he imagining the girl holding up the sign?

{SPOILER}

That's implied.  She's this woman from the UK that he used to work with or something that he hates but apparently had some kind of relationship with years ago, and she ends up being hired as the production manager/whatever for his news show.   At the end of the pilot, he confesses to her that he's not on vertigo meds that fucked with his head like he's been telling people, but he thought he saw her in the audience and it threw him off, making him go on the rant, then after he gets on the elevator, she pulls out a big notepad/book and opens it up showing all of those signs, revealing that it was actually her in the audience.
