For a record of "evolution", here's a link to the unaired pilot episode:
http://www.watch-tvseries.net/series69/The-Big-Bang-Theory/season-01-episode-00-Unaired-Pilot

I won't say too much about it up front; it's QUITE different from what we've all come to know about these characters ...
I'll get into the differences between then and now in a bit; I want you to have a chance to see it first before I "spoiler alert" it ...

There's a discussion about it here:

The pilot was just on TBS just now ...
Yeah, I'm glad they changed the format of the show ...

Well it was still pretty funny.
I'm not sure the format was really changed, they just moved to a new apartment and made new friends.

My two cents worth: I think the show has jumped the shark and devolved into a standard boy/girl sitcom, where it could have evolved into something brilliant. It has a fantastic premise, but it seems to me that it's playing very safe now.

I find I had no idea what "TBS" was until I just Googled it. Seems like a pretty limited line up of full episodes there.

I agree, however, I still really like the show ....
But I've thought the same the same thing for a while now ...

I agree as well, with most of the main characters skirting the edge of breakthrough science the potential is there.

I just read an article that says we can now make solid matter from light.
The actual cutting edge is about fifty years (maybe more) ahead of what we are informed of ... but is classified.

I read something similar to that ...
Dammit, I need to find another article that etches what we can now do with 3D printers ...
