Yes, if Trump nominee Amy Coney Barrett becomes the next Supreme Court justice, the future of the commercial sex industry could be in grave danger—as could the viewing entertainment of millions of Americans since, according to Pornhub statistics, the U.S. consistently outranks all other countries in maintaining the highest rate of daily traffic to Pornhub. Thus, as the Senate hearings to confirm Amy Coney Barrett draw to a close, her seemingly inevitable spot on the bench has sparked panic among the sex-worker community.

“If she’s confirmed, it could be catastrophic for the adult industry if and when any First Amendment-related cases reach the Supreme Court,” argues adult actress Siri Dahl. “Instead of supporting equal free speech for all Americans, she seems to support privileged free speech for religious Americans. I'm not worried, but only because there's nothing I can do about it. Democrats could've done dozens of things to try to prevent the appointment; instead, they didn't even bother to ask any tough questions. The failure of American empire is going to get uglier.

The Federalist Society and the rest have gotten really good at vetting conservative jurists before they're nominated, then coaching them to basically dodge every question asked in the confirmation hearings. It's all farce at this point.

Plus, the far more important issue that the court will decide are based in corporate regulation & behavior. Many Democrats like Diane Feinstein are as far right as the GOP on those issues; they're not going to fight Barrett where it really counts. Even RBG was a run-of-the-mill neoliberal, for all of the hero worship surrounding her.

Personally, I'd like to see the US break up. I don't think voting solves it - voting has been set up to stymie the will of the majority from the founding of the country to protect wealthy, aristocratic interests.

She's damn well versed at dodging questions!
