I keep finding LEGOs on the street as I walk to school. I always pick them up and then add them to a growing sculpture when I get home. I have some 15 or 20 pieces by now. My friends always feel obliged to remind me that picking shit off the street is unhealthy. Fuck that noise. If I see a LEGO, it's going in my pocket. My only fear is if the muggers figure me out and make a line of them leading into a side alley.

For example, pockets in simple little a-lines have been popping up left and right in the last year or two.

Yeah don't give them your money. Bear in mind they put all that work into it and it still failed. What can you do differently?

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5500 on: May 30, 2010, 09:11:25 AM
Well that's too bad for them. So are they coming back here or going back to HF then?

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5501 on: May 30, 2010, 09:29:59 AM
Nah, theres tz as well.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5502 on: May 30, 2010, 10:03:55 AM
Man they really fragmented. I guess there must have been internal tensions even within them. What's tz?

God I remember the mayhem on the day they arrived. You'd check the board and rather than a new 4 or 5 posts to read you'd have whole 4-page-long threads filled with complaints about a place most of us had never even heard of previously. It was actually kind of fun in a madhouse way. Not sustainable as a way of life but good times while it lasted. Much more fun than the last invasion which must have been BrawlHall.

It's a pity most of the HFers were too oversensitive and didn't know how to play the game with regard joining new forums and the playful xenophobia that always accompanies such a thing.

So are you and Fyre outcasts now or more like diplomats that can come and go? I noticed Daisy Mae's pretty much stopped posting here.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5504 on: May 30, 2010, 12:21:27 PM
From where i was sitting the LGers and RTers had exactly the same arguments. Theyre oversensitive because they cant being told not to do this or that, and the other side oversensitive because they cant deal with new people coming in and doing their own thing. Blah blah..

They came twice as well, once in april, another time later on in the year but ofc, by the second time everyone had a group memory loss of the first incident.

Theres always internal tensions, like the fact I got called a cunt, suck up, and power hungry... Hence i never joined st. xD

Anyway, tz stands for thoughtzi, its the website that two of the hfers made after they got sick of st.

Now youve got some people at tz, some people at st, and some at hf again (RT was reopened).  Oh and deviance but theres no one there that isnt somewhere else too.  I dont know, i like it this way. The majority of people on st i cant stand and now, i dont have to.

And btw no one cares where you post, esp not here. People srsly arent that bothered.

Well this neglects the idea of seniority. The idea that the old people get to give the new people shit is as old as the internet. That's just how the game is played.

I'm english, i dont really care. ;]

I have to say, for the record, I'm glad RT was shut down those times.

Stepping up production for my stuff is hard!  I can only sew so much in one day.  It becomes tiresome.  I feel the pain of the sweat shop worker.  I am going to make two onesies with pockets today.  I will take pictures of those outside.  What I need to do is get dependable models that won't flake out on me.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5508 on: May 30, 2010, 04:42:32 PM
I got home from work this morning at 4am.

I last looked at the clock around 6am before thankfully passing out from sheer exhaustion.

But wait! It's not over yet!

My alarm went off at 9 to be at work for 10am, so we can open all day because it's supposed to be the busiest day of the year at my bar.

So I've now been at work for about six and a half hours and haven't had a single customer. I HAVE, however, not stopped restocking, cleaning, refilling EVERYTHING in the goddamn place after the crazy week we've had. I've cut buckets upon buckets of fruit. I have squeezed fresh lime juice out of 60 or so limes. I have ruined my fucking manicure.

I'll work until 4am again, then get in my car and drive an hour and a half straight to the cape, so I can walk around like a zombie for the day with my boyfriend's entire extended family and pretend I'm happy to be there, as opposed to a sensory deprivation tank for the next week so I can rest for the first timein weeks.

Back to work on Tuesday. Hoo-fucking-ray.

Dude. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

Are they actually allowed to force you to work so much though? Isn't there a certain number of hours a night for sleep at a minimum required in MA? Given travel time I can't see how they expected you to get more than 5 hours last night. Is that the minimum allowed? Seems awfully short.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5510 on: May 30, 2010, 05:44:48 PM
I have worked a lot of overtime this year.

Employers may not legally be able to force you to work ridiculous hours, but that doesn't mean much.  There would be no bigger career killer than actually forcing the issue.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5511 on: May 31, 2010, 12:25:44 AM
There's a difference between being paid by the hour and being paid to deliver results. I think hip is in the latter group. My work is good about it, if I work late one night I can come in late or go home early another time to make up for it. The service industry would be tough however.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5512 on: May 31, 2010, 01:08:36 AM
Sorry I'm coming in so late on this, but:

I think you're wrong.  We were like a family, with asshats and hipsters, and we LIKED whatever tension there was, 'cuz it always ended up being FUNNEH!!!

ST is worth more than money to me, because it's like a little Town, and I want to live there,

and I always said that if I won the Lottery, I'd BUY a Town for my friends to live in!

Well, I have that chance,

I love those folks, too (like I love Y'ALL!),

and so.

I know.  I'm not totally disconnected.  I could get the software, free.  I could build my own place.  But, ...  why?  Where I want to be, who I want to be with, and how it's all set up (anon for the shit) is how I'd do it.

Why wouldn't I pay money, in exchange for THAT?

Not just all of ^THAT^, but it can, and WILL, make money for me, if I'm in touch with the pulse of it.

And here's the deal:  I need another side biz, 'cuz I can't fucking WORK at a regular job, and I like talking to folks, but I don't have a fucking VOICE.

What would YOU pay for something that could give You all of that?

(It's going to be a partnership, split 3 ways, so) $200 sounds like a Steal of a Deal to me!

If y'all come to visit, forgetful morAns that we are, you'll be welcomed!   :P

Expect TCF and EA to come in, shortly,

to offer their thanks,

'cuz as far as I'm concerned?  Y'all's responses to this

fucking DOUBLED the value of the place!  ROFLMFAO!!!

(Okay, well,^*that's me, being mad at y'all, as WELL as drunk and stoned,

so, PLEASE?

Do Not Quote Me!!!  rofl!!!)

Well, good luck with it. The idea of a place dedicated to free speech replete with moderators seems laughable to me, but I laugh at all sorts of stuff anyway.

Re: Current Thoughts Reply #5519 on: May 31, 2010, 09:44:33 AM
I thought hip was a salaried manager for some reason.  A lot of managers in retail & food service in end up working a ton of hours of overtime.  When I was working at Target during school, for example, the managers there would regularly work 50-60 hour weeks.  The only "result" that seemed to be expected of them was being present to babysit.

My employer has kind of a stupid business model.  Engineers are paid hourly, with 40 hours minimum and no cap on how much we work.  All overtime is paid at straight time.  We are required to produce results by particular deadlines.  That basically creates a financial reward for working inefficiently.
