I loved that show, then later loved seeing Kubiak show up as Roy Jr in Wings.

Huh.  So yesterday afternoon my cousin/roomate Mark went out walking to get a coke and some stuff.  An hour later he called me on his cell and said he was in the hospital with an infection on his foot and they were holding him overnight to see if the infection went all the way down to the bone.

Today my mother called me and asked what I knew about them removing his toe.

Finally after calling the hospital, being redirected half a dozen times before learning that out local hospital doesn't do surgery, Mark finally answered his cell and told me yeah, They cut poff his big toe because of a severe infection, and he's in a hospital in a nearby city so they could do the surgery.  He's in good humor about it.  He said I'll have to call him Nine Toes now.

Then i started cracking jokes about Frodo of the nine piggies, and the Toe Ring of Doom and he laughed his ass off.

How does someone let a toe infection get that bad?

I have no idea.  He had a bad blood blister on that toe a couple months ago, but he kept putting antibiotic cream on it and it healed, he thought i guess.  He doesn't have a car, he walks everywhere, and stands all day cooking chicken at Brookshire's Deli.  The doctor diagnosed him with diabetes a year or so back but he refuses to believe it, and he's been kinda anemic lately among other things, so who knows why he didn't feel it.  Or maybe he did and was ignoring it, dunno.  I forgot to ask him what heppened during that walk that made him go to the hospital instead, but I assume it was sudden toe pain.

Maybe it exploded?

Yeah he should have lanced it himself a good while back and let it bleed a while. Nothing compares to washing that shit out from the inside out.

Of course taking antibiotics whether prescribed or other wise obtained, helps from the inside out too. Topical shit like neosporin is only useful on scratches and other superficial wounds.

Can I ask, has he applied for disability because of this yet?

Me and my mother were talking about the possibility of him doing that yesterday.  He probably could, though it's a bitch and a half to get on disability in Texas.  The only reason I got on it as quickly as I did (around five or six months) was because of my back problems combined with weight and heart issues and a doctor apparently really going to bat for me.  But I know people that have been waiting literally for years.

Ok, finally got him on the phone today and got details.  That blood blister healed, but it let streptococcus in which infected the toe and got into his bloodstream, that's why he's felt so bad the last couple of months.  Luckily for him its not in his heart, so far as they can tell, but they're gonna bomb him with antibiotics for the next two weeks to make sure it's out of his bloodstream.

So some people on IRC were talking about blood spatter on crime shows, and it made me think of that show Bones.  I stopped watching it after they had the episode where the hacker carved a computer virus into a human bone, which when its picture was scanned in, infected the computer and made it catch fire.  I forgave that show for a lot of things over time, but that was the I-beam that broke the camel's back.

But i remember watching one episode where they;d figured out who the murderer was, and that she'd hid the victim for a short while in the trunk of her car, so they ambushed her in her driveway, made her open the trunk, then Bones shined a blacklight into the trunk and you saw all these little white droplets and smears inside, and they arrested her.

Only.... blood only shows up under a blacklight after you spray luminol on it.  They didn't spray any luminol.  There's only one specific bodily fluid that shows up under a blacklight without spraying luminol.  So my question is.....

What the HELL happened in that trunk?!

Yeah and 99.9% of the time you see people loading mags or revolvers and every one of the shells has a nice dent in the primer. Got to use imagination man.

They used to use blanks with live primers, but Mr Hexum fixed that idea.

Ahhhh .... Forensic shows that aren't forensically correct ...

my sis burned me out on that shit. csi, csi miami, fucking the military one, and the law and orders. and the wives who kill. ugh.

that's why I liked bones, it wasn't as crimescene masturbatory as the other forensics shows.  It was more about the character and drama and occasional comedy.  But then they started doing a bunch of product placement.  First it was a long scene of Bones driving a Lexus, making sure it zoomed in on the Lexus logo, then it was her extolling the virtues of her awesome cell phone then she puts it on a desk and the camera focuses on the phone with its logo for a full five seconds.  The episode that half of it was the guys waiting in line for tickets to see Avatar was kinda barely forgivable since one of them was a minor character in the film.  But I got pissed the third time they needed to look up some information and Bones said "Oh!  Let's Bing it!"

Yeah, that'd get old quickly ...

I'm starting to think that if I ever won the lottery, the president would announce the next day that the dollar has become worthless and we'll now pay for everything with fish.  That's generally how my life goes.

Ok, so my nieces came to visit yesterday.  Me and the oldest, the 12 year old, always show each other youtube videos we've seen that we liked.  so today I showed her a clip of the Time Warp scene from RHPS, and she screwed up her nose at it and called me weird again, but liked it well enough.  Until we both noticed that her younger 8-year-old sister who'd been sitting there playing the MGS5 demo on my PS4 was singing along with the lyrics.

She already knew them.

What the hell.

When i asked her where she learned that song she said "From mama and daddy!"

RHPS is awesome. cool kid. i miss my kids. my niece has the propensity to be really cool if she doesnt let herself go to the mean and conniving traits shes got in her. its a trip watching kids grow up.

Mine is the same as in the beginning.

I only follow my nieces on youtube (and a few review critics), and no one follows me because the only thing that I have ever posted in my entire ten-plus-year youtube career is one recent video of me playing Destiny when I hopped off my hoverbike, slammed my Titan's Storm Fist attack, and it made the hoverbike suddenly take off by itself then explode.  It sounds more exciting than it is.
