i really hate crappy coffee. my french press has seen so much of the good stuff i think it would actually refuse to let me put in anything but the best grounds. I've turned my coffee maker into a snob. great success.

Try Pilon. It's a Cuban espresso grind that I use in my moka pot but it works well in presses if you don't mind a little grit. And you can get it for about $3 for a one pound brick.

I didn't really like caviar. Too fishy. Kopi Luwak might end up being shitty, but I'm no princess. I'll try most anything once.

Truffles are excellent. Not worth their weight in gold or anything silly like that, but a good pungent mushroom. I quite liked them the two times I had them.

I admittedly don't have a particularly refined pallet, but I think truffles are more hype than they're worth.  I certainly would never pay a premium again for a dish because it had truffles in it.

I also don't like caviar for the same reason.

I have a feeling I'd hate caviar.  While we are on the subject of gourmet food.....how about gourmet chocolate?  Godiva makes some killer fucking chocolate.
