I have 2 external hard drives connected to one PC, I am using 2 PC's.  I am trying to share folders between PC's.  Trouble is, the one ext hard drive I got shared as a whole - i.e. the hard drive d is fully shared, all content visible and accessible from PC 2.  Hard drive f keeps giving a message "you don't have permission...", however, when I share individual folders in hard drive f, the individual folders are all fully accessible.   What am I doing wrong?

Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.
On the right hand pane click on This PC.
Now right click on the external drive and click on Properties at the bottom of the context menu.
Click the Security tab, and click on Advanced. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click on Change beside owner.
Type User Account Name, click on Check Names and click on OK.
Click on Add.
Click on Select a Principal.
Type User Account Name, click on Check Names and click on OK.
Click on Full Control.
Click on OK.
Now, click on Apply and then click on OK.
Note: User Account Name is the name of the user account you are logged in to.
After providing the permissions try sharing the drive again and see if that helps.[/li][/list]

Step 1: File Signature Verification Tool
This  tool help maintain the integrity of your Windows operating system by checking if there are any unsigned drivers in your operating system.

Press Windows key + R to open the run command.
Type sigverif.exe and press enter.
Check if you see a list of unsigned drivers.

Step 2: Scan for hardware changes.
Press Windows key + R to open the run command.
Type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
Expand computer and highlight the extension.
There will be an icon to scan for hardware changes right below help.
Check if the external hard drive is working.

Step 3: Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
Press the Windows + X, and click on Search.
Type troubleshooting and select Troubleshooting.
Click on Hardware and Sound and select Hardware and Devices.
Click on Next to run the troubleshooter.
