Yeah, I agree with zoomie's suspicion.  I suspect she resigned either to try to keep something quiet or to avoid being forced out due to wrongdoing.

It's way too early to resign for a presidential run, especially since most people don't resign until they've won the primaries.  And the police officer and bridge to nowhere were already on the table when she was nominated for VP, but she didn't get hit that hard for them.

As the article said, the GOP only has two possible candidates left that carry any weight. Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

She resigned to make a fuck ton of money in the political media.  Selling books, doing talk shows, making appearances on fox news, and being a ho.  Whether she retains the public interest remains to be seen.  She can make tons of money doing that stuff, while not having to conduct herself to an ethical standard in public service, and not having to deal with being hamstrung by the shortcomings of her family in the public spotlight.  I honestly feel bad for her family, especially her kids, at having to put up with the shit storm she brought on them.

I'm sure she fills a niche for some people, or else she wouldn't be nearly as popular, that said, I cannot fathom a world where she is elected to the Presidency, and I think the highest she could possibly aspire is maybe the Senate.  Even that thought is scary.  Her policy stances and her inability to articulate them on even a basic level is absolutely terrifying and hopefully she finds a place among the belfry of gargoyles at Fox News or some other conservative outlet so she can pander to an audience that appreciates her while fading into general obscurity among others.

The only reasonable options are: A. She wants to hop on the money train while it's still running, and some press agent or another made it sound to her like it wouldn't be in 18 months when her term was over. Or, B. She fucked up royal and wants to try to outrun the shitstorm.
