Title: Long distance relationships...
Post by: Lucky on September 02, 2009, 10:28:44 PM
...suck. So many important conversations are put off cos you want the little time you have physically together to be fun and pleasurable.

Anyway...off to Chicago for a few days.

I have a friend who used to date a tattooed, teenaged South-Texas chick long distance.

That ended with him hiding in a cheap motel room in Kalamazoo, Michigan after the girl reverse-kidnapped him at her apartment for a few days.

While there he invented the concept of "the Flea-Headed God of Misogyny".

I dated a speed freak marketing executive from SF.  That ended when he decided to drive to wine country for a fix at 3 am when he couldn't get ahold of his regular dealer.

I recall fondly driving around the ghetto at an absurd hour while my formerly heroin-addicted lady friend chatted up every black guy standing on a street corner in her quest for more cocaine.

Decided to call it a night before I ended up shooting or running down one of those assholes for their persistent attempts to sell her instead on crack or heroin.

Ha! We actually joked about that on the phone last night. How it would be way classier to break up via txt than, say, a facebook update. Cos a text is at least sent directly and just to the recipient, who would get the information first.

Anyway, thanks, y'all. In that strange and very special way that only we can pull off - your selfish one-upmanship has actually helped ease my mind a little.

Haha. One of my friends actually found out that the relationship was off from facebook first. He noticed in an update that his girlfriend had just listed herself as single. I guess she intended to make it official later that day by telling him to his face, but still he found out via facebook. I was telling him hey at least her update wasn't that she was now dating someone else.

My wife and I did that for about three years. Then, we got hitched and have been together on our trip for some time.

I hate the idea of a long distance relationship.  I really like the guy I was dating this summer, but he lives in Raleigh.  It's four states away!  He is so great, sexy, sweet, and would be good for me, but I would have to wait until he got his master's degree in december to date him.  I guess that is not that long, but I mean, I don't even know if he would want to be with me or live here.  See?!  It's already sounding like a mess.
Title: Re: Long distance relationships...

People are messy. And complicated and foolish and crazy and at times much more fragile than they seem. You either deal with it or die alone.

Title: Re: Long distance relationships...
Post by: 13chemicals on September 06, 2009, 11:55:40 PM
No physical contact is torture.  I think that people can make it work long distance though if they are of a certain age.  My dad has been with the same woman for twelve years, but they weren't physically together for the first five.  They would go see each other a couple of times a month but nothing more, now they live together.
Title: Re: Long distance relationships...
Post by: Lucky on September 07, 2009, 12:31:54 PM
It's easily the hardest part. Regular contact - from simple sharing of space/hand-holding to sex - is one of the big indicators to my brain that I'm in a relationship. Without it, I sometimes feel more alone than I do when I'm single. At least then, I know why I'm so starved for affection.

I'm the same way lucky.  Back a zillion years ago when I was married, he was in the navy, and the first few days of him being gone were the worst. He was/is an asshole but we were big on the physical (non-sexual) touching, and not having him around felt like part of me missing. Just like having sex and bam its gone, the big lump from missing it to not missing it is long and hard. heh. unintended sexual innuendos are the best.

my ex (husband) used to "joke" that "he fucks other women, but he makes loooove" to me. He thought it was hilarious. Makes me want to stab him now... and myself for being a dumbass for stickin around for so many years and so many times he fucked around. 3, 4, 5? I lost track. He's karmas bitch now.  ;D

But the asshole was right, emotionally speaking there is a difference between fucking and making love (which makes me nauseous saying today) there's actually more satisfaction when there's actual feelings involved, not just unfunfunf *nut* *get out*

My requirements: have an education and degree of some sort. have dreams, goals, aspirations. have job or career. have other interests besides me. be freaky in bed. be openminded and easygoing. not live with parents or other family members and not mooch off of family members. not be fucking crazy or boring. live within a reasonable distance from me.

My requirements... uhh... hmm... um..

he needs to make me laugh,
i need to be able to trust him,
he needs to be open minded,
he needs to care about me.

I can't think of anything else really.
I could list my preferences here but if I meet some who meets those four things then I don't care about them. If he's overweight or stupid or ugly.
Not that it doesn't matter. Just that it doesn't matter as much, I'm not that fussy.
I don't care if he's going nowhere in his life. Drop out. Loser. I mean, if I like him I like him. I wouldn't say no because of something else.

I wonder how much this will change in 10 years time.

i am openminded. well, if they are this bizarre success story like you are, that would be an exception, but i dated two people who didn't have a HS degree. one was in a career that he got into by luck but doesn't really love and would rather be doing something else, has no sense of monetary responsibility or even general responsibility. the other had jobs but didn't have a career and was sort of aimlessly wandering through life. i'd rather be with someone who has a more solid idea of what they want or is currently working on it career-wise.

That would be like incest.

Agreed.  Sasha and I basically have the same parents, but instanced as different people.

show's how much you actually know about style! symmetry isn't at all synonymous with high fashion or design.

i guess between drinking, taking pictures of shoes, and all the other stuff you guys did (wink wink) tricky didn't find much time to explain such things to you.

CC is marketing, not high Fashion and is only just  barely design.

yes, that's right.  This is the very moment at which I consummately demonstrated my lack of style.

he has sweatpants with gigantic holes on the legs that he refuses to throw away. the man doesn't have a ton of style.

You can't make a man throw away his comfy clothes. They're his comfy clothes. Know you nothing about men?

comfies don't have to be all holey and raggedy. i like a guy with good comfy clothes so i can sometimes snuggle up in them (provided they arent like, caked with oatmeal or ketchup and have holes around the crotch and stuff).

just as long as you don't leave your house in your comfies too often-- that's one sign that you've given up on life.

Agreed.  This one just happened to have a SMALL rip along the seam on the left leg.  Barely even noticable, had I not pointed it out to her.

And I don't even wear those pants anymore, after they got tore up even further on that trip.  So, nYAH.

We do not choose comfies. Comfies choose us. They are what they are.

I throw clothes away pretty much only when they fall off. The vast majority of my black tshirts are more like grey. Comfy = good.

I don't really own any clothes that aren't skin tight, so I wouldn't know what comfortable is.

I only throw away T-shirts when I get given a new one and have no room for it. Then I pick one at random out of my rag pile and designate it for assignment. If I had a garden instead of an apartment I'd keep them even longer to use for painting shit.

I don't understand why girls want to wear their man's clothes. They are my clothes yo, not yours. The only reason I let "J" borrow that shirt (that I almost didn't get back if you recall), is because she had cum caked on the one she wore over. I bought the clothes for me, not you.

I just don't "get" snuggling with clothes. Gay. So gay.

You are late to the party bro. Cock pic; been there and done that. Cock molding; been there and done that too. Cunt molding; up next. Then the crown-jewel, yet-to-be-announced amazingness is down the road a bit.
