Re: Swine Flu Reply #150 on: October 29, 2009, 11:52:01 AM
yeah, i've never been a big fan of the idea of merging finances, but i can't say i don't see myself doing it with someone i deem to be "the one". i plan on almost always working and being as equal as i can be when it comes to contributing fiscally to my family, so it may never be necessary. who knows? despite popular opinion, i've never expected to be a kept woman (though i wouldn't turn the idea away, of course). this guy is such a gem. he'd never screw anyone over, at least not in any way i can see, especially if it was to come down to us breaking up with or without joint accounts. he's logical, hard-working, and the most honest dude ever. if he was to go and break my heart one day (which he won't!), i just know he'd never fuck with me or our shared interests. he's a really good and decent man. he has a very amicable relationship with his ex-wife despite his feelings toward her, in order to always keep the peace for the sake of their son, and has always been kind to her since the divorce, as he has never had any desire to hurt her further than that alone.

i'm sure lots of silly girls in love believe this shit about the object of their affection, but you have to believe in something, right?

Re: Swine Flu Reply #151 on: October 29, 2009, 11:54:20 AM
I just have a "glass is half full" approach to stuff like this.  I would never deem anyone "the one" because that always leads to disappointment, and I wouldn't assume that this guy will love me forever.

Re: Swine Flu Reply #152 on: October 29, 2009, 03:29:10 PM
i hope he will, rather than assume he will, just the way i hope i love him forever without eventually getting bored and looking for fulfillment elsewhere/with someone else. i would like to get married and be monogamous, even if i'm not quite sure if it can happen easily, and/or happen happily. my parents are married and crazy about eachother (29 years strong) but they are definitely in the minority.

This is why I've never married ...
Well, ALSO why ...

My wife and I haven't merged accounts, it works out. We just split the living costs according to our incomes. I pay for more dinners out than she does and we're good. The rest of our money we spend of what we want, and since we're both naturally frugal there's no worry that one side is spending the family dry.

The only reasonable response.

Luckily I don't have to worry about such things because I'm 99% sure mine was a virgin birth.

Leah's dad told me he fucked her mom on their first date, and she was the best piece of ass he ever had.

I like to remind her of that, it's fun.

my parents are just about to celebrate their thirtieth anniversary. they're head over heels for each other; it's disgusting.

they probably do all sorts of gross stuff but they don't do anal. i am not going to relate how i know that but i will share this amusing anecdote.

a few years ago i'm just hanging out with my mom when suddenly she practically shouts, "oh! have you seen that sex video of tommy lee and pamela anderson?" i warily answer that i have, in fact, seen it. she responds with, "i swear, he is like your dad's PENIS TWIN!"

super duper.

guh.  if my mom had said that I'd have to excuse myself from the room then stab myself.
(from bash.org) <Twig> I just had an argument with a girl I know. She was saying how it's unfair that if a guy fucks a different girl every week, he's a legend, but if a girl fucks just two guys in a year, she's a slut. So in response I told her that if a key opens lots of locks, then it's a master key. But if a lock is opened by lots of keys, then it's a shitty lock. That shut her up.

Re: Swine Flu Reply #175 on: November 14, 2009, 12:34:42 PM
Burn, I have been telling my co-workers FOREVER that flu shots are a ploy by the government to inject everybody with sort of kill-switch nano-bots. So if there is ever another civil war, or breakout of mass chaos they push GO and the kill-switches activate, killing whatever percentage of the population has flu shots.

How do they stay powered for such an indefinite amount of time, when your cell phone needs to be recharged weekly?

You know how they get energy from water going through turbines in dams?

Well you have a little dam inside you, instead of from water it takes the energy from your blood.

Good idea, conceptually!  Well done!

However, dams are stationary; it's the force of the water flowing through the constrictions of the dam's internals that generates that power.

So, your nanobots would need to be big enough to block off blood vessels, and you'd surely notice that with enough of them.  Plus, stuff would get caught (like it does in dams) and there would be an increase in embolisms and heart attacks over the last 20-30 years...

OH MY GOD.

I sort of absentmindedly followed this conversation with a bit of amusement because I'm pretty sure baggies first post was made in jest. But this is not as far fetched as it may sound at first.

We are making great strides in nanotechnology and the idea of micro robots attaching themselves to your nervous system to act as a form of kill switch makes perfect sense.

And you guys have all missed the boat entirely on the power issue. Take for instance RFID chips, they have NO power supply! They are completely inert until you pass a scanner over them. the scanned emits a radio field (generally somewhere in the microwave range) which then powers up the RFID and allows it to transmit it's ID code back to the scanner.

With these kill switch nanobots as originally proposed They could use almost any radio field as a power source (leakage from the home microwave perhaps or some field being generated near the clinic) to reach their programed destinations where they could then lie dormant indefinitely.

In the event of an uprising or other mass disturbance all that would be required it to bathe the crowd in a modulated microwave field. It wouldn't need to be very powerful, the people wouldn't even know they were being attacked. The nanobots could be programed to perform several different functions from paralysis, unconsciousness or death based on the exact coded modulation of the microwave field. And since microwaves can be focused like light they can be shaped into a laser beam (maser) to select a single target among a large crowd, or expanded into a flood light to encompass the entire crowd.

Alternativly using HAARP the signal could be broadcast from Alaska bounced off the ionosphere and beamed back down on entire portions of states anywhere in the US.

Now I'm not trying to encourage baseless crackpot ideas but I thought I should just mention that this scenario is not entirely impossible.
