I'd offer you one of mine but I've fucked them up with lead and booze and gawd knows what else.

July looks like a good month. Selena Gomez will turn 18. I predict she's drop her Disney contract and go straight into porn.

My recent MRI confirmed I have a bulging disk in the L4-L5 junction impinging on S1.
Might need surgery but don't want to rush into anything.

Chicks dig men who can take lots of pain. It just may be proportional to how much bullshit you can take from them, thereby making you an acceptable mate..

I've been bleeding, down there, for a few weeks now!  Woohoo!  I was worried about it, so I bucked up and decided to go get a MAPS card down at the po' people office.  MAPS is a government run health care plan for people who can't afford insurance and who qualify.  Anyway, I got approved and was all excited when I got the list of offices to call to make an appointment.  Not gonna happen.  All of them said they were not taking new patients with MAPS cards.  So I asked, "when will you be taking new patients?" They replied "not until the end of July or eaarly August."  Is this how it's going to be under the Obama healthcare option?

Does that include losing blood for five hours, if it is put back afterward?

Re: More medical issues. Reply #114 on: June 02, 2010, 02:01:32 PM
Well, first, there is the fluid restriction. Only 32oz of liquid a day. That includes all the liquid from the food you eat, too. Then there are the 15gauge needles that go in either side of the fistula to take out and put black the blood from the machine. Sitting there for five hours every other day isn't going to appeal too much to me. At least I can catch up on my reading. There is also the recovery period that some patients need after each dialysis session. My mother was on diaylsis for 3 and a half years. And she had maybe two good months out of the whole time. Otherwise, she was lethargic and lost her zest for life. I hope I am young enough to be able to bounce back and at least work part time. Worst case scenario is I do on the benefits from my disability insurance. Best case scenario, I get a kidney before October and avoid it altogether.

I am going to ask if they will film the fistula surgery for me.

I donated plasma for a year, I imagine the process is much the same. With donating plasma they siphon off your blood spin the blood in a centrifuge, keep the liquid then return the red cells. Probably about the same size needles I imagine.

Re: More medical issues. Reply #116 on: June 02, 2010, 03:54:16 PM
They wouldn't take plasma from me because of the damage to my veins from injecting unmentionables into myself.  Daddy-  Your mother had the same condition you have?

Re: More medical issues. Reply #117 on: June 02, 2010, 04:05:43 PM
I have scars on both arms from the process.

Yes, ma'am. Alport Syndrome. Genetic mutation. The consensus is that it is on the X chromosome and not autosomal.  We won't know that unless my son develops symptoms later in life or we have him typed.

My mother has it and my grandmother lost one kidney to it. An aunt of mine died from complications with it when she was 19.

My mother went into renal failure when she was 40. She got her cadaver transplant at 44 and the organ is now showing signs of failing her 20 years later. That is incredible for an unrelated cadaver organ. She is actually on the Transplant list for her second.

A friend of mine joked that God knew I was a bad seed and was trying to get rid of me before I would do any damage.... His statement, " I bet God is cursing the guy who dreamed of transplanting organs to be stuck with your soul."
