AU$ just raised interest rates like a month back right?  That's because their financial sector and general economy isn't completely fucked like ours I would wager.

This is partly correct. More correct is that the mineral export sector got a huge boost from all the govt water-bailing in China and Japan. Housing over here is insanely overpriced but population is increasing so there hasn't been a correction yet but there has to be one at some point.
