We are doing it Robin's Egg blue walls, stainless Steel backsplash and cream for the trim and ceiling. Eventually we'll replace the appliances with black and stainless steel as they break, which hopefully won't be ANY TIME SOON.

I have this neat idea to do a mosaic tiled frame, with oranges, blues, ect... with 4 small hooks at the top, with little glass jars with tea lights in them on wire. Does that make sense? I want that hanging in there on one of the bare walls somewhere.

Krsna - We havent bought the lighting just yet. Still working on finding it, but there's gonna be bar lights in the cut out, and two main lights in the room...

I watch those "kitchen makeover/room makeover" rooms on the DIY network and I think, "man, you'd have to have either a lot of time or a lot of money to do something like that."  I guess I was proved wrong.  You just need a vision and infinite patience. 

By the way, I love how wall molding looks on that color you chose.

Sasha!! I LOVE wall molding, esp white molding on BRIGHT colors (like you posted) I had envisioned it in my parlor, but time and money came into play, I reworked my design and I'm pretty happy with what I came up with.

I did do crown molding in the studio that I'm pretty happy with





But the space is too small and the color is too confining to do wall molding. Damn!

The key to home improvement is to set a reasonable budget, something just under what you can afford, then spent a metric SHIT TON of time researching cheap but effective materials, work, and ways to make your design work on your dime.
The left over, you'll find, won't be left over at all because you'll end up going slightly over your original budget (shit happens on a construction sight).

I also suggest exclusively dating handy men. For example, I dated a plumber and got TWO new bathrooms!

In the case of my CURRENT project, I couldn't have done this without Zoomie, as my budget was so. fucking. limited. Detroit and my two best friends have been amazing, too.
