As if .99 cents per song wasnt' infuriating enough Itunes will be raising prices on popular music to "assist the record companies during the tough economy". In a further insult to our intelligence they say that they'll counter balance this by lowering the prices on music that nobody wants.

I say the ends justify the means provided this turns people off iTunes and gets people to directly pay the bands themselves. I'm all for giving credit where credit is due, but playing middle man is so un-credit-worthy that they should be paying me.
I guess this is kind of another silver lining argument like I made in regards to parasites, but just so we're clear - apart from the negative impact this move has on Apple itself, I agree the raised fees suck.

I rarely buy new music. If I ever buy anything it's usually some old shit I already know I like and I won't even do that unless I can get the CD for less than $13.00. It may be less expensive to pay the dollar and download, but I'm never going to pay a dollar to download a few megs of data that their shitty application will delete at the first opportunity it gets.

 I thought iTunes was great for the two years or so I had no internet connection.

 Then, BAM, update the fucking thing and it repeatedly rapes my file organization.

 So, fuck iTunes.

 I mostly listen to music through Pandora or obscure Myspace bands now, anyway.
