So 176 is pretty healthy, no?

Somehow I've lost about four pounds over the last few days, despite eating a fair amount of junky stuff. It won't last, but it does mean that in about a week or so I'll likely have gone back up to about 199 and then will plateau at about 195 for a while. That seems to be how it works.

If it were muscle, yes.

AS it is now... you can see the bones of my wrists and only in the last few months have my ribs been covered in a thin layer of fat.

i'll skip the whole weight = health debate cause it will just get in the way.

I just then did a naked weight. 167.2 lbs. So if i take off the weight of the clothing i was wearing when i did the last weigh in ive lost about 3-4 lbs since i posted.  At the end of the day it goes up and down depending on how many meals i eat a week and over xmas its been about 1/2 a meal a day or so.

Hai. I've been asking about the bowflex and elliptical at the 'rents house since late '02, since no one really used them. It was always, nah, we're gonna start using them next week. And fuck if I'm not one lucky motherfucker. Today, after truly enjoying watching my kids' basketball games despite not sleeping for three days... My mother says, Why don't you take that elliptical home with you? I say, all right! Then later, after some debate, my father says, well- lets go get that bowflex loaded into the truck.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I arrived home with new digs to put back together and use!!

And, my daughter is so competitive that parents with kids on opposing teams tell their daughters to watch out for her.

Now that the board is back (I refuse to believe it existed without me) I can post here about how fucking excited I am about the 2011 Cannondale Trail SL 2 I'm getting. FUCKING EXCITED!

Also, I had a really good workout today. Feeling awesome.

...and while I love my Sun Drifter, I'm in the market for a recumbent, preferably a SWB like the Lightning Phantom, But maybe a trike. Even on a noiseless saddle, I'm putting too much pressure on my perineum.

I want one of these: http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=62185&scid=1102&scname=Multi+Use

Why do Americans think step-through style bikes are for women?  Step-through is way easier for riding in traffic, on boardwalks, etc.

Re: Current Exercise Thoughts Reply #38 on: January 20, 2012, 10:16:03 PM
Sun makes a step through. I test rode it before I bought me Drifter. It was heavier, but the weight was low. Good balance but lots of canal bridges down here and the weight troubled me.

I can't imagine wanting any bike other than a mountain bike.

Low Rider...

Re: Current Exercise Thoughts Reply #41 on: January 23, 2012, 09:31:20 AM
Last time I went mountain biking, I realized I'd rather hike.  I like the quiet and being engaged, rather than whipping down a trail making sure I'm not going to hit a low hanging limb or something.

Step-through bikes are practical for commuting or general running around type utility.  Also don't have to worry about someone stealing your $1,000+ mountain bike or road bike in the city.

I can't imagine wanting any bike other than a mountain bike.

Try walking upright after you put 100 miles on that mountain bike. Try getting your John Thomas up after sitting on that saddle daily for a few weeks, squashing your prostate.  I love being in the woods, that's been established. But conventional bikes are just bad for you.

I don't have woods. I have a Caribbean island with lots of really shitty roads and little trails that claim to be roads.

Yeah that would make a mountain bike more practical. Just get yourself a noiseless saddle ok?

---

I've had a good exercise week. Light on the cycling, heavy on the gym. Finished off today with a bench, leg-press and deadlift session. My legs are sore and I love it.

I like to have a few beers before I dance, which takes away from the healthy part of the exercise.

Re: Current Exercise Thoughts Reply #55 on: February 19, 2012, 11:57:52 PM
I don't dance in public.

But I've been very motivated with working out. I have moved up from 20 minutes to 45 on the elliptical and now I run too. I can only run for about ten straight minutes. When I alternate run for 2 minutes and walk for 1, I feel like I am working more so I usually do that.
Also, ive only been doing moves that I already know with the bowflex because I haven't read the book yet. That is what I am doing tomorrow though because there are like fifty things I can do with that thing.

Since I've increased the cardio, and put some variety into things, I've dropped roughly three sizes.
Holy shit, I look so different. It's crazy!!

Re: Current Exercise Thoughts Reply #58 on: February 21, 2012, 01:30:45 AM
Try the thrift stores. The supply is starting to dry up as more and more people have to resort to bicycles but you might still find a good deal.

I once bought a $400 specialized for $9.98.  My current UniVega cost me 24.98. The trek that got stolen last year cost  $35.98. They were all (almost) perfect specimens, I haven't had to replace a single cable yet.
Though it took quite a bit of detailing to make them look like new.

Last year I rode my bike almost daily, this year I think I've made two trips to the store.
Reality; A shared narrative we all agree to believe.
