Thanks, it still needs some work but by the end of the week it will be insured and my old 61 Falcon will go back in the back yard registered Non Op for another 6-10 years. This time I plan to build an enclosure around it. Not a garage exactly but I will block the wheels up off the ground and cover it.

That Falcon has been amazingly dependable, I mean after sitting 6 years  in two different yards all I did was put in fresh gas and a new battery. (oh and I had to replace the rear brake shoes and some tires) It starts right the fuck up, like with only a tap of the key. Sometimes you don't even realize the engine has cranked all the way over even once and it's already running. I really like that about that old car. And it only has the standard point based ignition system it came out with.

I'm actually going to miss it, but the new car is more suited for high speed highway trips and such that I wouldn't have felt comfortable taking the Falcon on.

Thats how i feel about my 20 year old Accord. Its my second Accord and third Honda and even though it almost stranded me in NC, its still running strong at 350,000 miles.

I bought a nine year old Integra in 2003. I was 21, it was my first really quick car, and I lived on an island that for all intents and purposes has no speed limits, no chance of getting pulled over for reckless driving, and no drink driving laws. You can imagine the abuse I put that car through. For the first few years I was buying new front tyres every 6-7 months, and front brake pads every 4-5 months. I regularly got the front rotors glowing white hot, and to this day the car and I have a reputation on the island as a "serious ting".

I didn't sell it when I left. I left it there for my sister to use and for me to use when I go back, because it doesn't look great anymore and it's 19 years old, so it's worth more to me to keep it than I would have gotten for selling it. It still runs fucking awesome.

Hondas are the shit.

Well it turned out the Jag had a serious engine problem that was going to cost more than the resale street value of that model in excellent condition so I had to send it back. A problem that only showed up after a few weeks of driving but one that literally doomed it without proper repair. Unfortunately now going into winter I have no car at all. I could put the Falcon back on the road but I really wanted to save it as is and don't really want to put it back on the road at this time so I am kind of fucked.

I really need a pick up, it doesn't have to look nice it just has to run well. That's what I am looking for now. The Jag wasn't really my idea, it was offered in a can't refuse situation, still didn't cost me much to have it and lose it. I broke even. (except for not having a legal car now) still a shame because it was a nice project car and even with the engine problem ran great. For now, wouldn't have lasted.

At least I can say I owned one. Even though the company was sold to ford in the early 90's and is now owned by a company from India.

I'm soon gonna give the M3 to my dad and buy an estate. Luckily there are some pretty fun estates for sale in this country, since it's a popular type of car.

Dude, that completes the transformation of Si from PFR to domesticated. The station wagon is the deathknell.

I think you might be able to get a Vauxhall VXR8 Sportswagon there. If not you can certainly get a Maloo Ute.

What's the engine problem?

It needed a head gasket and resurfacing, but that engine has dual over head cams complicating things and it would have cost $3000 to have it fixed. I'm just not up to doing that kind of work myself any more.
The problem didn't show up for a few weeks but it started having a problem with hydro-lock(*) in the mornings and when I checked the oil sure enough it was being contaminated.

(*) Hydrolock is when water seeps into a cylinder while it sits over night. Water is non-compressible so even a palm full of water is enough to lock the engine up until enough gets forced past the rings, then it starts normally. If the offending cylinder happens to be on the compression stroke when you shut it off it can take several tries before the engine will turn over.
