And the Logic that i use is one that begins with :  If, IN THE OBJECT being scrutinized, it is stated that EVERYTHING in said object is true, then, either it is or it isn't, and you start looking for truths and/or lies.  When you keep finding truths, and the supposed "lies" are nothing more than a misunderstanding of time and/or place, well.

People who accept the Bible as infallible base that acceptance on faith.  Making any other argument is pointless.  It's not a provable assertion in terms of making a formal, logical argument.

You sort of hint towards that point at the end of your post, but fall off the boat in trying to frame some sort of logical argument as quoted above.

i have no idea what all the dinosaur stuff is about, other than you think they're older/younger than claimed in the Bible?

Yeah, well, the smoking herb and drinking to excess and smoking cigarettes has sort of kept me from becoming a renowned Biblical Scholar, so shooting holes in MY beliefs is pretty easy...

Not that i'll change my mind ~ for me, all of the questions were answered, and with one word:  Love.  i choose love over hate.  For me, it's as simple as that.

I think you guys are reading too much into this. Fyre isnot a fundy. She's good, salt of the earth Christian folk. Not the kind we most often think of as the enemy.

She doesn't need me to defend her, but quoting the bible isn't loved here any more than it is at HipForums. So it's a draw.

I don't subscribe to any religion.  However, I do believe in a creator.  I think the whole creation vs. evolution debate is a false dialectic that serves only to confuse and polarize.  I believe it serves only to keep us from knowing who we truly are and where we came from.

That's just MY opinion, though.  I refuse to argue with people over this kind of stuff because it goes nowhere.  Plus, I believe in people's right to believe what they want.

Yes, sweet. You did.

But the part about one part being true so all of it is true sets people off thinking you're Pentecostal or something.

I believe Jesus was a real person. Just as Koresh was a real person. The difference is that Jesus wasn't impregnanting 12 year old girls and his philosophy lasted longer.

The son of God? open to interpretation. If you believe in God, you believe we're ALL his children.

Oh, okay!  That explains it.

Nah, i'm a "God is God, Jesus is the Shepperd/Pastor, and the earth is Their Church"-type of Christian.  The "tenets" and "precepts" of man are just that, and ARE fallible.

It's sort of like believing in the dictionary ~ when in doubt about a word and it's meaning, i go unhesitatingly to the dictionary, read THOSE words, and interpret them for myself.  i trust the dictionary to give me truth, and it does.  Sometimes, i choose the wrong word, but that isn't the dictionary's fault ~ it's mine, in MISinterpreting/misunderstanding what i've read.

As a Christian, with the Holy Spirit living within me, HE is one that i leave any Biblical interpretations to, not a traditional Priest/Pastor/whatever.  They can, and DO, help, but they aren't the last word.

Yeah, like that.

Have you seriously never heard the creationist arguments? Like, the bones were planted there by the devil to stop us believing, or it's a test from God..?

Didn't even Palin say that...?

Nah, you are misunderstanding the intent of whatever I post... easily enough done is straight text.

I'm just having fun with it, whatever Fyrenza believes is ok with me, simply because at least actually she believes in it, and isnt just taking that position because she's likely to get something material out of it somewhere along the line.

Not that she needs my approval for whatever she believes in. I'd rather deal with someone who actually believes than someone who gives the appearance of actually believing.

That's sort of funny, 'cuz i figure He's already given me SO much:  My beautiful hair, to wear as a crown; i've never gone hungry, nor naked, nor thirsty, for any length of time; always had A/C; and He's been MORE than generous with the Herb!  Also, He gave me everything i love, for a season ~ it'll pass, and with it, the things i love will leave this reality.  But i'll STILL have my memories, as cliche as that may sound, to monkey around with whenever i get lonely for whatever/whoever it was, so i'm content in my heart/soul, hopeful of going to Heaven to live with Him, and as peaceful, inside, as purring cat.

He adopted me into His family, and the truth is,

i feel like a spoiled brat!  lol

Televangelists? I'm guessing they're preachers on the TV then...?

Yeah, this stuff is definitely taught in some Churches.

When I used to work for another agency most of the women I worked with were black.  They kept saying, "come to church with us!"  I finally went to black people church.  Other than everyone's breath smelling gross, I kind of liked it.  They have a full band that was good but they kept trying to get me to join in order to pay tithes I guess.

My wife started and was excommunicated from a black church. Long, long story.
Loaded-Gun.com - I don't know what the hell they are talking about or why they are even there. They don't make serious points and they don't joke, but they still manage to make a lot of posts somehow.

Come on, Mosh. You know ALL Christian have at least a minor sense of entitlement. They expect that living a life that would put them in God's favor will get them a place in heaven.

And I bet they're all surprised then they kick it and figure out that they're just worm food...

I just don't follow religion sometimes.

Some of the most vile people I've ever met were supposedly devoutly religious.
When I asked some of em, it emerged that religion was sthg for "them".
I dunno, I always thought religion was about how to live alongside others -like killing them for having a different branch of religion etc etc  :-\  ???

Dunno, my fucking head doesn't work today LOL

Although there are many citations in the Old Testament of God calling the Jewish people to kill, and to war,

in the New Testament, we understand that everyone  is given Free Will/Choice,

in everything.

What you do, and how you do it?  That's between you and your god.

i'm very lucky to have an "instruction book," as it were ~ things get real serious, real fast sometimes, and it's nice to have a guide book, so i use it a lot.

Anyway, Christians are called to forgive and, as best we can, forget, any supposed "wrongs" done against us.  In one way, it encourages us to sort of just be meek, and let what we've been told will happen, happen.  (Let Go, Let God)  i AM going to die.  One way, or another, it WILL happen.

i could go on about what i've learned, but it would sound like preaching to some of you, i'm afraid, and i don't mean to offend.

Its ok your post's cool.
Yeah my post was just abit light hearted.I mean some of the nicest people I know have been devoutly religious. But I remember this Minister who has wa teacher in school- utterly vile man.Would pull kids hair and armlock em- I mean WTF...!

You know the sort- obsessed with God and scriptures, couldnt give a fuck about fellow people?

I mean 1 person on Hipedo today, called me a motherfucker and shit about my mother.Devout Christian supposedly.I actually used to be extremely  friendly with them.WTF..! LOL

To me its like religion can be used well .. or for bad uses.

I always think theres the values, customs and beliefs of Christianity or whatever.
.But to me, the word "religion" just means to "follow withiout question"- which I don't understand.

Oh well ..:LOl

Maybe believing something that you follow without question makes you feel calm because you can interpret that thing to be whatever makes you happy.
